Indra's Net

for percussion and live electronics (c. 3')

Indra's Net is a Buddhist metaphor to illustrate Śūnyatā (emptiness), pratītyasamutpāda (dependent origination), and interpenetration. The "net" is owned by the Vedic deity, Indra. It consists of a net of cords, where at each vertex exists a jewel that reflects all other jewels in it. It in itself highlights the idea of infinite reciprocity, but also is designed to emphasize the interconnectedness of all things in the universe. Indra's Net is meant to reflect the interconnectedness of the music, where rhythms gradually mutate into one another, and the timbres of the wooden slats, glass bottles, and crotales all complement one another.
