for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, and piano (c. 7')
During the process of writing Rainwash, I drew upon a memory of visiting Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. This park encompasses huge, breathtaking landmarks such as Balanced Rock, in the Fountain Formation. This monument to the beauty and power of nature was carved out of mountains by wind, ice, and among other things, rain. While not specifically an environmental piece, I hope that some of the importance of sustainability and respecting our surroundings on this beautiful earth is considered by the listener.
