for clarinet and live electronics
Talking Tom for clarinet and live electronics is a short character piece written about my cat, Tom. It represents my first foray into the field of live electronics processing, and mostly uses the sound of clarinet and sampled recordings of Tom as the soundscape upon which the solo clarinet plays. The piece explores the playfulness and grace of a cat, while trying to avoid a cliché or kitsch style of music. The recorded sounds, feline and clarinet, were processed using mostly granular techniques, including stereo scattering and randomized reordering. Live processing was programmed in Max/MSP 8.
